Paris

The most romantic city in the world – that is the description of Paris which has existed forever. Some people may think that today this is an historical stereotype, but don’t you believe it! Perhaps your intention in flying to Paris is just to take a look around at what the town can offer.

In that case, perhaps you will miss the romance, because your intentions would not really afford much of anything even if you were going to Paradise itself. Paris is
calling on you to enjoy its essence, its aroma, its beauty. Yield before the City of Light and you will find out that its fame is based on absolute truth.

Paris is one of those cities with beauty on every street corner – a monument, a noble building, a romantic café, or simply the beautiful and free population of the metropolis. Cross any street, and you will face a different view. Perhaps it will be the outstanding Eiffel Tower. Perhaps it will be the Montmartre with its artists, the banks of the Seine and the barges that float down the river, the Champs Élysées, Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe, or Quasimodo’s Notre Dame. “I have seen this before,” you will muse to yourself. “It was in a movie, a book, perhaps a postcard.” The streets that you will be walking in Paris are streets which have seen the steps of hundreds or even thousands of people who have eventually become a part of the world’s history.

Despite its fame, however, Paris is also a city in which new things can always be discovered. If you are not excited by traditional values, you can head off for one of the arrondissement that are less often visited by tourists. There are Arab and Vietnamese areas, for instance. You can look at subterranean Paris by riding on the Metro. Thus you can find out that Paris means something different for everyone who visits.

Don’t forget the artistic side of Paris, either – the countless museums, stuffed with masterpieces. Concert halls which attract the world’s best musicians. Isn’t a trip to Paris worthwhile just because of the Louvre and the Mona Lisa therein?

Take just a few steps around the grand city, and you will find that it never sleeps. During the day there are hundreds of events, exhibitions are opened, at night the streets are inky black but full of people, and then
there is Europe’s largest amusement park, Disney World. All of this confirms Paris as a true megalopolis. What’s more – Paris is a different megalopolis for each visitor. Romantic Paris, historical Paris, cultural Paris, fashionable Parish, business Paris, modern Paris – or, as always, the city for lovers.

They say that there is never a bad time to visit Paris. The city welcomes its guests at any time of the year. Summers are wonderful for strolls along the Seine, for hours spent at one of the countless romantic cafes, for relaxing in one of the city’s many, many parks. In the autumn, when evenings grow shorter, the viewing platform of the Eiffel Tower offers an unforgettable view of the city’s lights. The Champs Élysées are covered with red and
golden autumn leaves. In wintertime, Paris is a great place to welcome Christmas and the New Year in the city centre, where lovers of romance gather from around the world. Comes the spring, nature comes to life, trees
and gardens begin to bloom, and the city is particularly beautiful.

There is no better way to learn about Paris than to walk its streets, to be as free as the wind. This is a pedestrian-friendly city. Distances are not as long as you might think, and there are few hills and hillocks to make the journey more difficult. The Metro is one of the world’s oldest underground rail services, and it is perfect for any longer distances that you might need to overcome. The Metro in Paris is one of the best and most beautiful in the world despite its age – few places in Paris are more than 500 metres away from a Metro stop.

If you are a more dynamic traveller, then you might think about touring the city by bicycle. At most tourist destinations and rail stations, you will be able to lease a bike for a few hours or for an entire week. Be warned, though – bicyclists must be very careful on the streets of Paris, because drivers are not fond of sharing their space with others, and they can be very unfriendly toward those on bikes. To make the situation worse, bicycles are
banned from the Metro.

Another wonderful way to enjoy the unbeatable atmosphere of Paris, France, is to take a boat ride on the Seine. That will allow you to take a close-up look at many of the great city’s famous views, monuments and museums – just like in the movies!
