Initially airBaltic will fly direct to Munich four times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Using the Boeing 737-500, airBaltic clients will be flown to the Bavarian capital in 2 hours and 20 minutes. The launch of direct flights to Munich will certainly be welcome news for ice hockey fans. The timing coincides with the start of the World Championships in the nearby Austrian city of Innsbruck as well as in Vienna itself. And as we all know, Latvia is also taking part and fans will have no problem getting to Innsbruck by car or bus in a short time. A one-way ticket to Munich costs from LVL 49, including airport taxes. Tickets may be purchased at airBaltic ticket offices, over the Internet or from travel agents. Commenting on the new route, airBaltic president Bertolt Flick said, “Germany is an important market for airBaltic, and it is only logical for us to launch flights from Riga to Munich. Thus we will continue to strengthen airBaltic’s positions in air traffic between Latvia and Germany.” airBaltic already began direct flights to Munich from the Lithuanian capital Vilnius in the autumn of 2004. |
