“Istanbul is a fascinating eastern city with an infrastructure that is touristfriendly and with attractive prices. I am convinced that the direct flights which airBaltic is launching to Istanbul will be a pleasant event for Latvian travellers,” says airBaltic President Bertolt Flick. He adds that because of the relatively low ticket prices (starting from LVL 58 oneway), as well as the convenient flight times, these direct flights will now allow a far larger number of passengers to fly airBaltic to Istanbul than before. Bertolt Flick emphasizes that airBaltic’s chosen operations strategy has justified itself and the company can now turn its attention to developing the passenger flow on a route that hadn’t previously been on the list of direct flights from Riga. “I’m convinced that this will have a positive effect on the development of the tourism industry in Latvia,” adds the confident airBaltic President. Initially there will be two weekly flights to Istanbul – on Tuesdays and Saturdays – but in the summer season from 27 March to 29 October, this will increase to three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A one-way ticket to Istanbul will cost from LVL 58, including airport taxes. airBaltic will fly to Istanbul using the comfortable Boeing 737-500 aircraft in about 2 hours and 55 minutes. airBaltic is the only airline flying direct from Riga to Istanbul. |
