A new addition to the airBaltic family - Boeing

The airBaltic family is expecting an important new member this November – the aviation classic Boeing 737-500 will be joining the company’s fleet of aircraft. The 737 family is the best-selling jetliner family in aviation history, with more than 5,200 737s sold. On average, about 1,200 737s are flying around the world at any given time; a 737 takes off somewhere in the world every 5.3 seconds.

The new aircraft will fly to Copenhagen four times a day and will carry 120 passengers - nearly twice as many as its predecessor, the AVRO RJ 70, which seated 70 passengers. The Boeing 737 is not only the largest airBaltic aircraft but also the fastest, carrying passengers and crew at a speed of up to 800km per hour. Despite this increase in dimensions and velocity the craft’s engines are by no means loud and the cabin is specifically designed with the comfort of passengers in mind.

At the end of October the airBaltic fleet was augmented by yet another „Fokker 50” type aircraft. This is the fifth „Fokker 50” used by airBaltic to carry out its regular direct flights.
