airBaltic conquers Vilnius

Only two years after starting operations from Vilnius, airBaltic has won the largest market share of any airline at Lithuania’s primary and largest airport, Vilnius International, with a 32% share of the total.

“The fact that airBaltic has become the largest carrier at Vilnius airport proves that our customers appreciate the offering that airBaltic provides, and that the airline has chosen the right path,” said airBaltic Executive Vice President and General Manager in Lithuania Tadas Vizgirda.

airBaltic started operations in Vilnius in June 2004 and was the first carrier in Lithuania to introduce lower priced one-way fares. Since then, the airline has carried 580,000 passengers and conducted over 25,000 flights.

“During the coming year we plan to aggressively continue our development activities - increase capacity and frequency to our existing destinations, open new routes, and expand our current aircraft fleet. airBaltic passenger numbers from Vilnius during the past 8 months of this year have increased by 64% compared to the previous year, and we strongly believe that we will experience substantial growth in the months ahead,” said Vizgirda.
