Baltic Outlook

April/May 2007

Editorial
airBaltic carried 1.42 million passengers last year, with a turnover of 162 MEURO (116 MLVL); an operating result (EBITDAR) of 22,5 MEURO (16,09 MLVL) and a profit of 5,2 MEURO (3,72 MLVL). We improved our result by 7 MEURO (5 MLVL) and increased the turnover by 37%, the same as the increase in passenger numbers.  During the year 2006, we opened 14 new routes from Riga and Vilnius. Despite a difficult competitive situation and record high fuel cost, we have continued to grow, creating a stable platform for the further development in 2007. There is no secret to our success, we try to observe and understand our markets and the needs of our customers. In 2007 we will make again a step forward.

New Internet booking system
A new and improved system for buying airBaltic tickets on the Internet has just been launched. The online system now works more rapidly and effectively than ever before. This means that airBaltic can serve many more customers, even if demand surges during special campaigns and promotions. Sales figures as well as a marked fall in the number of customer claims are proving this to be true on a daily basis.

Midsummer magic
Midsummer - the shortest night of the year, but a night of magic and miracles, when nature comes to life and dreams can come true. The midsummer solstice in late June has been celebrated across Europe since pagan times, and the festival is still one of the biggest parties of the year in the Nordic and Baltic countries. At midsummer the whole region twinkles with bonfires as people gather in the countryside to sing, dance, eat, drink and be merry. airBaltic suggests some of the best places to go to feel the magic for yourself.

Athens – Playground of the Gods
The cradle of Western civilisation and the birthplace of democracy, Athens overwhelms you with the splendour of its ancient treasures. Temples and monuments from ancient Greece and Rome, Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire stand cheek-by-jowl at every turning. But Athens is not just about history - Athenians have had more than 3,000 years to perfect the art of living well, and there’s no better way to enjoy the fruits of their labour, than by sipping Greek coffee at a pavement café.
