Riga, 08.04.2008 The Latvian airline airBaltic today is upgrading its fleet with a new type of aircraft – the Boeing 757-200. This is a 200-seat airplane, and it is the largest plane being used by airlines in the Baltic region.
airBaltic president and executive director Bertolt Flick: “We are delighted to supplement our fleet with the Boeing 757-200, which is an excellent airplane that we will use for long distance flights in the airBaltic network. Because per-seat costs are lower, the Boeing 757 will also make it possible to offer cheaper tickets to our passengers.” The Boeing 757-200 that is being presented today is the first of two aircraft of this type that will supplement the airBaltic fleet this year. The second is scheduled to be received in June. The plane will be used on flights to Almaty, Tashkent, London, Tel Aviv, Barcelona and other destinations. The Boeing 757-200 consumes less fuel per passenger, which means that airBaltic flights will now be environmentally friendlier and with a lower amount of emissions. | About Boeing 757-200 | Wing span – 38 m Cruising speed - 800 km/h Range - 7222 km Fuel consumption - 4200 l/h Engine – Rolls Royce RB211-535R4 | Number of seats - 200 Max take-off weight – 115t Max payload – 23t Length – 47.3 m |
