Latvian airline airBaltic carried 147,425 passengers in February 2009, or 3% more than in the same month in 2008, when airBaltic transported 143,572 passengers. In February this year, the number of passengers at the base of airBaltic in Riga has increased by 32% compared to the same period last year. The number of airBaltic passengers has increased when the rest of the Baltic States have to face a downward trend– in February 2009, the total number of passengers served by airlines at Vilnius Airport has fallen by 42%. In February at Tallinn Airport, in its turn, the total number of passengers carried by airline companies has decreased by 29%.
During the first two months of 2009, airBaltic transported a total of 324,622 passengers, or 10% more than during the same period in 2008, when the total number of passengers was 294,967.
In February, airBaltic operated 2,770 flights, or 11% less than the 3,125 flights of February 2008. Between January and the end of February, the airline provided 6,377 flights in all.
Cabin factor in February 2009 was at a level of 62%, or 9% points more than in February 2008. During the first two months of 2009 airline’s cabin factor was at a level of 59%.
The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was at a level of 91% in February 2009. This means that 91 of every 100 airBaltic flights in February departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.
