Cheap flight tickets to Billund

Geography

A tiny city of 8700 in Jutland of western Denmark, Billund’s claim to fame is that it is home to the children’s toy manufacturer LEGO and the popular family destination called Legoland. The park spreads over an area of 100,000 square metres and draws in an approximate 1.4 million visitors a year, mainly from German, Sweden and Norway, to enjoy its many attractions. In fact, since its opening, Legoland has been visited by some 30 million tourists in all. Generally recommended for families with children aged under 13, it is not unknown to see age old lovers of the famous toys returning briefly to their childhood joy.  airBaltic is pleased to provide flights to Billund Airport, one of Denmark’s largest and from which many airlines provide travel across Europe.

Languages

Velkommen! (Welcome!) The official language of Denmark is Danish, which is also spoken in Billund.  As Legoland is the primary attraction and is frequented by tourists, nearly everyone speaks English or German. A city-break for English speakers should not require learning the Danish language.

See and Do

The main attraction in Billund is Legoland, with its spirited combination of family, play and creativity, among the 45 million Lego pieces spread out across the park’s. With hotels featuring prince and princess themed rooms (and beds made completely of Lego blocks) the park is an instant success among the youngest travellers. Enjoy roller coasters and other rides, as well as hands on entertainment perfect for a day with the children. Beyond the fun in the park, Billund boasts a sizable commercial centre with a number of businesses and about 5,000 commuters coming in from outlying areas. Within the town itself, see the Billund Kike, a modern church in the cultural centre, nearby to the town theatre and library. Outside of the town, visitors can travel to Givskud Zoo with over 1000 animals from around the world. At the world heritage site of Jelling, some 20 km east of the town, see the burial mounds and runic carvings or the rolling dunes of Grene Sande. For those looking for outdoor activities, travellers may catch a little angling on a fishing break outside of the town in one of the many lakes that are to be found in the region.
For nightlife and a better selection of restaurants and hotels on the cheap side, make way for nearby Vejle, for its upbeat clubs and bars and traditional Danish cuisine, especially at the Craisy Daisy club for an unforgettable night as only done in Denmark.
