Riga - Kittila

from EUR 49
flights from 08.11.2010

Holiday resort destination and winter wonderland in one, Kittila is located in Finland’s famous Lapland province near the Arctic and is home to Levi, Finland’s most popular ski resort for cross country trekking and downhill skiing. Beyond the slopes and during the magic of the holidays or just about any other time of year, there are plenty of winter activities to enjoy in Kittila’s pristine natural setting: hitch up for a sled ride behind a team of huskies or explore the wilderness on a reindeer safari, go snowmobiling or snowshoeing or even catch a glimpse of the shimmering northern lights.

Riga - Arkhangelsk

from EUR 79

Travel to Arkhangelsk, the unofficial capital of North Russia on the banks of the Dvina River and the coast of the White Sea, and encounter a city rich in Russian history and all the trappings of timeless port life. Admittedly a bit of the beaten track, Arkhangelsk, like its namesake, has that genuine spirit accustomed to battle in the frigid north, which may be exactly what visitors find so beguiling about it. Summer months are best for a holiday here, and the nearby Solovetsky Islands make for a stunning getaway. Among them is Solombala Island, claimed to be home to the kingdom village of Ded Moroz, another jolly present-giving winter spirit, according to the local lore. Home to fishermen, friendly faces and an experience like no other, Arkhangelsk could be that bright new idea for your destination list.

Riga - Lulea

from EUR 42

Lulea spans a bit of the coast and a bit of an island in the Lulea Archipelago at the northern tip of Sweden. Here, a relative stone’s throw from the Arctic Circle, tourists come for a summer of sailing adventures, exploring the diversity of nature across the many islands in the group and enjoying days that never seem to end.  Turn the seasons full around and Lulea offers a full complement of winter activities – from dog sledding to skiing – while the harbour gets a little help from the icebreakers so the yachts can still take to the water.

Riga - Visby

from EUR 36

On the west coast of Gotland Island in Sweden lies one of northern Europe’s best kept secrets, the ancient merchant centre of Visby. All across the island, remnants of the past exist in the form of Viking age churches, stone gabled houses and impressive rampart walls dating to the boom years of the Hanseatic League, and it’s no wonder Visby is a UNESCO site. But the present is alive and well - for Scandinavians and travellers the world round, Visby has become the perfect summer getaway, when the short Swedish nights go full swing and Visby turns into a tourist driven party hub.

Riga - Beirut

from EUR 126

Beirut - 5000 years in the making, the capital of Lebanon still lives up to its old title of Paris of the Middle East. It is an up-and-coming centre, where ancient Roman and Phoenician origins blend with the grandeur of Ottoman architecture and a daring, modern edge in outright contrast to any regional stereotype, creating a city like no other on earth. Its people are warm-hearted and welcoming, there are museums, mosques and trendy restaurant bars, a wild upsurge of nightlife and a rollicking party scene. Travel to Beirut and expect to be blown away by a truly unforgettable experience.

Beirut

Riga - Amman

from EUR 126

Jordan’s capital city, Amman is more nearly two cities in one, with its more traditional east split from the trendy west, and they are as different as night and day. Amman offers a range of interesting sights, from its well preserved Roman amphitheatre, an excellent Islamic Museum, a decent selection of mosques, the antiquity of its old town and, yes, plenty of first rate shopping. Amman also makes a perfect starting point for excursions to the Dead Sea and surrounding territories.

Riga - Madrid

from EUR 69

Madrid – Most recognizable for its passionate Spanish identity, Madrid is the capital of Spain and one of Europe’s most populated cities. Home to a rich collection of art galleries, tremendous architecture, universities, tempting tapas bars and restaurants and the legendary Real Madrid football club, Madrid has a perfect blend of honored tradition and sophisticated style. Get ready for a surging, sparkling night life, unparalleled live music shows and an incredible sense of being alive, plaza to plaza, no matter what time of year you visit.
