Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the manner in which a Member may earn and spend Points on airBaltic flights. These Terms&Conditions may be modified by airBaltic from time to time without prior notice at its sole discretion without liability of any kind on its part. The present Terms and Conditions available on this website are the most recent. These Terms and Conditions are binding to all Members.
Programme – a frequent flyer programme operated by airBaltic as part of the BalticMiles loyalty programme.
Member - a person who is a Member of BalticMiles Programme and whose name appears at the BalticMiles Membership account and who has been assigned Membership number. Only Member of the Programme is entitled to benefit from the services and benefits proposed in the Programme.
Points - the currency of award accounting for flying airBaltic awarded to Members of the Programme pursuant to these Terms&Conditions.
Reward Points – Points that can be exchanged for an award flights, hotel accommodation, car hire and other items offered as part of the BalticMiles Programme. All Reward Points earned are valid for a period of three (3) calendar years. Points earned but not used will expire, and will be deleted from the Members' Account.
Status Points - Points which determine Member’s Membership Level. This Status is eligible only for BalticMiles partner airBaltic. Status Points are not credited on Award flights. All Status Points expire in 12 months. Attention will be drawn in good time to the date and extent of the lapsed Points in the BalticMiles Account information or in BalticMiles communication media.
Membership Level - Member’s status level in the Programme (i.e. Basic, Executive or VIP) which is determined by the number of flights taken (except Award flights) or number of Status Points earned with airBaltic (except Award flights) within one year and which grants additional benefits and privileges.
Award Flight – a flight fully or partly paid for by Reward Points.   
Upgrade Award - an award that upgrades to the class of travel one level higher than the class booked with the paid ticket.
Member Service – a service unit fully authorized by the airBaltic to provide the customer support and a range of services under the Programme.
BalticMiles communication media – collective name for the means of communication used in the Programme (i.e. website, newsletters, inflight magazine, application forms, brochures, letters, etc).

1. Earning Points on airBaltic flights

1.1. The number of Points credited for direct flights depend on the price (which includes ticket fare, taxes and surcharges) and class of travel. Member earn 1 (one) BalticMiles Point for 1 (one) euro spent when purchasing a Basic class flight ticket, include tickets upgraded via Optiontown, or member earn 5 (five) BalticMiles Points for 1 (one) euro spent when purchasing an Economy flight ticket, include tickets upgraded via Optiontown and 10 (ten) BalticMiles Points for 1 (one) euro spent when purchasing a Business class ticket.
1.2. Points are credited to the Member’s Account for each actually flown segment of a fully paid scheduled flight by airBaltic. Members earn Points on airBaltic flights from the date of enrolment in BalticMiles Programme.
1.3. To receive Points for airBaltic flights flown, reservations must be made under the Member's name exactly as the Member's name appears on the Account. Any discrepancy may delay or void the receipt of Points. Only the person named on the BalticMiles Account who actually flies can earn Points, even if the travel is purchased by someone else.
1.4. Points can only be earned on airBaltic operated flights. Points cannot be earned on code-share, charter and marketing flights operated by other airlines.
1.5. airBaltic may from time to time offer bonus Points for various activities or eligible purchases. These offers may be temporary by nature. airBaltic reserves the right to modify or eliminate such offers at any time.
 
 
2. Exclusions 

2.1. Members do not earn Points for additional products or services purchased together with the flight ticket including, without limitation, the following: checked in baggage, online transaction fee, insurance, ticket date and time change fee, etc
2.2. Certain travel is not eligible for earning Points. This includes, without limitation, the following: all travel purchased with Points (Award Flights, Super Savers, Upgrade rewards), free ticket promotions including free or reduced rate travel, non-revenue travel, charter flights, travel agency/industry reduced rate travel, unpublished fares, travel subject to special provisions and services for which the Member receives benefits under another bonus programme.
2.3. All ticket purchases made partially or fully by using an e-voucher are not eligible for earning Points.
2.4. airBaltic reserves the right to determine which travel is eligible for earning Points. Certain other services may also be excluded from Points accrual following a prior announcement in the BalticMiles communication media.
2.5. Points will not be awarded on unused, cancelled, forfeited, refunded or fraudulent travel bookings. Members may accumulate Points for multiple seats purchased for them on a single flight.
2.6.  If a Member is transferred to another airBaltic flight or partner airline, which differs from the original issued ticket, Points earned on the resulting flight will be credited to the Member’s Account. However if a Member is involuntarily transferred to a non-partner airline, the Member may request Points for the original airBaltic booking, in circumstances within airBaltic control. In this case the Member is required to contact BalticMiles Member Service with the original flight details, along with a copy of old and new ticket details. Please note: airBaltic would not credit Points for original flights for the following reasons - natural disasters/disruption, weather, fire, strikes, war, civil unrest and closed airports.
2.7. In case of flight cancellations due to factors beyond airBaltic’s control, including but not limited to weather conditions, labour disputes or security reasons, Points will not be credited to a Member’s Account.

3. Crediting procedure and retro claims

3.1. Automatic crediting of Points to a Member’s Account is only possible if the Member quotes his/her BalticMiles Membership number or shows his/her card when checking in for the flight. It is the Members responsibility to ensure that the Membership number is provided at the time of making a reservation and while checking in.
3.2. Points will be credited to a Member’s Account only upon the completion of the flight.
3.3. Points are credited to a Member’s Account based on the amount spent in EUR (euros) using Amadeus exchange rate on ticket issuance date.
3.4. In case of other airlines' flight segments booked in connection with airBaltic flights, Points will be credited only for airBaltic operated segment and the amount of Points depends on the distance flown with airBaltic.
3.5. Any Points not automatically registered can be credited to the Member’s Account within 6 months after the flight date, but not earlier than 10 days after the flight. For newly enrolled Members Points can be registered for journeys that took place up to 30 days prior to enrolment.
3.6. Points can be claimed online by filling in retro claim form at www.balticmiles.com or through the presentation of a boarding pass for a particular flight and a copy of flight-ticket or e-ticket receipt at an airBaltic ticket office, BalticMiles Member Service or sent by email to info@balticmiles.com. Letters and documents sent to airBaltic will be archived. Requests for such letters and documents to be returned in their original form will not be granted.
3.7. While airBaltic makes every attempt to provide accurate Points crediting, it is the Member’s responsibility to retain the necessary documents such as boarding passes and passenger receipts required to make retro claims.
3.8. airBaltic is not responsible for any claims for Points that have been delayed, or lost, or for any claims that the BalticMiles Member Service doesn't receive.
3.9. It may take up to ten weeks for Points to be credited to a Member’s Account, once airBaltic has all the information. Members can't redeem these Points for Rewards or have Status Points count towards a higher Membership Level until they have been credited to a Member’s Account.
3.10. airBaltic reserves the right to retrospectively adjust a Member’s Account in the event of incorrect entries due to our mistake or otherwise.
3.11. Any attempt by a Member to earn Points with the same boarding pass on more than one occasion with different carriers will constitute a breach of this agreement and the termination provisions in Clause 5 will apply.

4. Spending Points on airBaltic flights

4.1. Super Savers

4.1.1. Award flights are available for scheduled flights operated by airBaltic. Requests and bookings relating to Award Flights fully paid with Points can be made through the BalticMiles Member Service. Award Flights can only be requested by the Member who holds the Account. Award Flights can be issued to any name requested. Award Flight ticket may be e-mailed only to the preferred e-mail address of the Member. In some countries Members may be required to collect Award Flight ticket from designated places.
4.1.2. Children (2-12 years of age) and infants (less than 2 years of age) who require their own seat will be charged 75 (seventy five) percent of the Points required for the Member's Award Flight. Infants, if they do not have their own seat, travelling with a Member on an Award Flight will travel for 10 (ten) percent of the Points required for the Member's Award Flight. 
4.1.3. One way and Round Trip Award Flights tickets can be issued. Open tickets cannot be issued as Awards. For return journeys, outbound and return flights must be booked at the same time. Travel to one destination from a point of origin and returning from another city of the same country to the same point of origin (or vice versa) is permitted. Special rules regarding a stopover may apply.
4.1.4. Award bookings are subject to availability and cannot be waitlisted. Award bookings may be made up to 350 days prior to departure. During this period airBaltic makes some seats available for Award Flights bookings on all routes operated by airBaltic on some flights in each direction for each week of operation throughout the year. The total number of seats available for Award bookings will vary from route to route.  Members are advised to make Award bookings well in advance of the date of travel however airBaltic cannot guarantee that a Member will be able to make an Award booking on any specific flight regardless of the time of booking.
4.1.5. All Award travel must be completed within 12 months of the date of ticket issue. Award Flight ticket should be issued within 72 hours after the reservation is made.
4.1.6. Members will be liable for all taxes and other charges associated with Award travel on airBaltic, including without limitation, airport departure tax, customs fines, immigration fees, airport charges, customer user fees, fuel surcharges, security and insurance surcharge or other incidental fees or taxes charged by any person or relevant authority or body. All taxes and fees must be paid at the time of purchase.
4.1.7. All changes (date, time, route) of Award Flight is free of charge before issue of the Award Flight ticket. Once the Award Flight ticket has been issued, rebooking is subject to a service charge of the rules of the Regular airBaltic tickets for the travel in same service class cabin.
4.1.8. For Economy class Award Flight ticket, fully paid with Points, the following rules apply: Ticket is nonrefundable. Ticket must be issued within 72 hours after reservation is made. Changes are permitted for additional fee in respect of date, time, booking class and route.
4.1.9. For Business class Award Flight ticket, fully paid with Points, the following rules apply: Ticket is nonrefundable. Changes are permitted for additional fee in respect of date, time and route.
4.1.10. The flight taken as an Award Flight is subject to the airBaltic’s General Conditions of Carriage Passengers and Baggage.

4.2. airBaltic reserves the right to revise, amend, or modify the amount of Points required to earn an Award Flight.

5. Misuse  

5.1. Sale, exchange, offer to auction or any other kind of commercial transaction with third parties involving award documents is strictly prohibited, unless specifically allowed. It is also strictly prohibited to arrange the purchase or sale of Points or awards, transfer of Points, unauthorised purchase of Points or to make unauthorised use of awards or award documents. All such cases are classified below as misuse. Such activity is prohibited and may result in denial of travel and/or redemption of the reward and may also result in the cancellation of all accrued Points, rewards and programme Memberhip.
5.2. In the event that awards are released in exchange for Points acquired by misuse, airBaltic reserves the right to demand compensation in place of the Points required to release the award, insofar as the Points balance, excluding the Points acquired by misuse, is not sufficient to release the award. The amount of compensation per Point is calculated based on the applicable Point purchase price for the highest scale value at the time of the damaging event. The respective applicable scale value is published in the BalticMiles communications media. airBaltic also reserves the same right in the event that the Points Account has a negative balance in other cases of misuse as well as unsanctioned conduct by the Member. The Member has the right to prove that he/she has caused no or only minor loss.
5.3. Any breach of these Terms&Conditions or other requirements contained on our website or in the pocket guide may result in denial of travel and/or redemption of rewards and cancellation of all Points, rewards and programme Memberhip. 

6. Law &Jurisdiction

6.1. These Terms&Conditions and the relationship between airBaltic and each Member are governed by the Latvian law. In joining the Programme, a Member agrees to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Latvian Courts.
6.2. If in any jurisdiction, the Programme, the issue of Points or the redemption of any reward is unlawful, then to the extent that the laws of that jurisdiction are applicable, the issue or redemption of Points or rewards and any related documents are void.

In case of differences of interpretation, the English version will prevail.
