Vilnius International Airport to Close Between July 14 – August 17, 2017

Dear passengers,

Please be informed that Vilnius International Airport (VNO) will be closed from July 14 to August 17, 2017, due to runway reconstruction. During the reconstruction, all airBaltic flights to/from Vilnius will be rerouted to Kaunas Airport (KUN). Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania, situated approximately 100 km from Vilnius. 

Passengers looking to book tickets to/from Vilnius for travelling within the previously specified period are invited to search for flights to/from Kaunas instead.

Riga Airport Northern Pier to Open on October 30 

Dear passengers,

We are pleased to inform you that an extension of the Riga Airport passenger terminal will open on October 30 to make travelling even more convenient. 
Initially, the Northern Pier will be used for Non-Schengen departures only. Please pay attention to your gate number displayed on the screens at the airport, and follow the signs to make your way through the airport. 


Non-Schengen Business Lounge Closure at Riga Airport

Dear passengers, 

We would like to inform you that as of October 15 the business lounge in the Non-Schengen zone at Riga Airport will be closed. You are welcome to use the Schengen zone business lounge, but please bear in mind that you will have to go through passport control afterwards in order to access the boarding gate, so plan the length of your visit to the lounge accordingly.

Departures from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport


Dear passengers,

we would like to inform you that check-in for flights departing from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is available up to 45 minutes before the scheduled departure. Airport check-in and baggage drop-off opens 2 hours 15 minutes before departure. 

Please arrive at the airport on time as there are long queues at the security check during the summer season.

Restrictions at Brussels Zaventem Airport


  • airBaltic check-in desks are located in the main check-in hall Departures 1.
  • Only travellers are allowed to enter the departures and arrivals halls.
  • Passengers with reduced mobility can be escorted by a companion up to the entrance of the departures hall. 
  • It is prohibited to transport any weapons on flights from Brussels. This restriction does not apply to flights to Brussels.

Riga–Brussels flights


All Riga–Brussels–Riga flights up to April 5 (incl.) have been cancelled.

All passengers affected by the cancellations are invited to call +371 67280422.

Due to the emergency at Brussels Zaventem Airport, airBaltic flight BT601 Riga–Brussels with the departure time of 07:05 was diverted to Liege Airport. The return flight BT602, Brussels–Riga that was scheduled to depart at 9:55, was cancelled.

Air Passenger Duty (APD) abolished for passengers up to 16 years of age

We are pleased to inform you that the Air Passenger Duty (APD) has been abolished for young adults between the age of 12 and 15 (incl.) departing from the U.K. in the economy class from March 1, 2016 onward.
For bookings made on or after February 4, 2016, the system deducts this tax automatically if the date of birth of the passenger falls within the respective range. 
However, customers who have already paid the APD for passengers aged between 12 and 15 (incl.), booked to depart from the U.K. in the economy class on or after March 1, 2016, are eligible for a tax refund. Please contact us at if your booking matches these criteria. Please note that the passenger must be aged between 12 and 15 (incl.) on the day of departure, not at the time of booking the flight.

Sharm El-Sheikh flights suspended


The Latvian Civil Aviation Agency (Civilās aviācijas aģentūra) has banned flights to the Egyptian city Sharm El-Sheikh indefinitely as a precautionary measure.

Following this announcement, airBaltic organized two flights on November 7 and 8 to bring home the stranded passengers. New tourist groups will not be transported to Egypt until the ban is lifted.

airBaltic invites its passengers to contact their travel agencies, tour operator Tez Tour or airBaltic call centre, and follow the information published on and social media.

Changes in hand luggage policy


Dear passengers,

We are pleased to announce that, from now on, you are welcome to take a personal item on board with you, in addition to your free baggage allowance. The maximum dimensions of your personal item may not exceed 30x40x10 cm, and the total combined weight of your cabin bag and personal item may not exceed 8 kg if you are travelling on a Basic or Premium ticket. 

The following items can be classified as a personal item:

  • a ladies' purse;
  • a laptop bag;
  • a tax-free bag;
  • a camera bag;
  • an umbrella.

Operations back to Terminal 3 at Rome airport


Dear passengers,

We would like to inform you that check-in for airBaltic flights at Rome Fiumicino airport has been moved back to Terminal 3.

Attention! Important information regarding BalticTAXI vouchers


We regret to inform you that it is no longer possible to purchase BalticTAXI vouchers at SIA Taxi Now (previously: SIA Baltic Taxi) has ended our partnership on July 6, 2015, on short notice; as a result, we are unfortunately unable to provide taxi services to you.

The travel vouchers will not be accepted by BalticTAXI drivers, and passengers in possession of confirmed taxi service reservations made on must apply for a refund.

To receive a refund for the voucher, please call our irregularity line at +371 6 728 0422 or contact the ticket office at Riga Airport.

Possible terminal changes for BT flights at Rome airport


Dear passengers!

Due to the partial closure of Terminal 3 at FCO airport, the handling terminal for airBaltic flights may change between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Please be attentive to the information about the handling terminal of your flight.

Air Lituanica flights to be replaced by airBaltic


The Latvian airline airBaltic will replace Air Lituanica flights and rescue the stranded passengers, affected by today’s suspension of operations of the Lithuanian carrier.

Air Lituanica, seeking to reduce inconvenience for the passengers and taking into account the financial resources, agreed with airBaltic that all passengers having Air Lituanica tickets for cancelled flights between May 22 and May 29 will be rebooked on airBaltic flights to their origin destinations.

Passengers flying on May 30 have already received information about the flights. 

Passengers flying on May 31 - June 5 will get a reservation message to their e-mail address about the availability of flights with airBaltic and should contact airBaltic customer service for a new route choice.

Important update regarding departures from Tel Aviv airport


As of June 1, 2015, only passengers holding valid boarding passes will be allowed to proceed to the security questioning at Tel Aviv airport before being granted access to the check-in zone.
Please make sure to check-in online before going to the airport and print out your boarding pass. 
If you are unable to present a valid boarding pass at the airport, you will be denied boarding.

Airport Express ceases operations


Dear passengers!

We would like to inform you that Airport Express ceases operations as of May 8, 2015. We invite you to use another means of transportation, such as BalticTaxi or public transport, to get to the city centre.
