Dear Customer,

Latvia is currently in the spotlight of Europe. Firstly, Riga as a European Capital of Culture has received a great deal of attention throughout the year. It has drawn thousands of visitors to numerous cultural events, including music, cinema and theatre performances, as well as art exhibitions and shows.

Secondly, Latvia will assume the presidency of the European Council on January 1 and thus will be in the driving seat of the 28-country European Union for the first half of next year. This will bring an extra dose of vitality to both Brussels and Riga, which will host numerous gatherings, conferences, meetings, workshops and cultural events aimed at giving new perspectives for Europeans.

We at airBaltic are delighted to support the Latvian presidency as an official carrier, serving the Riga-Brussels route up to three times daily in cooperation with our code-share partner Brussels Airlines. Along with a more convenient schedule to the capital of the European Union, we have also introduced further improvements in our network. Our new Vilnius-Amsterdam and Tallinn-Paris routes have strengthened the connectivity of the Baltic region with Western Europe and worldwide destinations, which can be conveniently reached through our long-term code-share partners from these hubs.

The new Riga–Moscow Vnukovo route in cooperation with Transaero will complement airBaltic’s existing Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo services, offering additional travel options to the Russian capital or onwards with our partner airlines.

Poprad is our new, affordable ski destination in Slovakia. We have also placed larger aircraft on high-demand winter holiday destinations and scheduled more
convenient departure times on established winter routes that link Riga with Zurich, Vienna and Munich, among other cities.

Furthermore, by moving our westbound departures to earlier morning hours, we have made more time available for travellers to enjoy European cities and their abundant Christmas markets and celebrations.

Did you know that the first historically documented Christmas tree was decorated in Riga exactly 504 years ago?

I warmly wish you a Merry Christmas and a memorable time with your families and loved ones. Thank you for flying airBaltic and have a great trip!
