Air Baltic Corporation AS Metrology Laboratory

Committed to the standards of precise calibration

About us

Our metrology laboratory is a young and dynamically developing team, officially accredited in May 2025. Despite the recent commencement of its formal operations, the laboratory is an integral part of Air Baltic Corporation AS the national airline of Latvia, which has established itself since its founding in 1995 as a leader in aviation safety and service quality.

We take pride in our heritage and uphold strict compliance with all applicable national, European, and aviation standards, as well as regulatory requirements established by organizations such as:

  • ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) — the global civil aviation authority responsible for developing international standards and recommended practices to ensure the safety, efficiency, and regularity of international air transport;
  • EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) — the European agency responsible for the regulation and oversight of civil aviation within the member states of the European Union;
  • LATAK (Latvian National Accreditation Bureau) — the national accreditation body of Latvia and a signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MLA), which affirms the international recognition of our laboratory’s accreditation and competence.

Accredited by LATAK (No. K-695) for the calibration of vacuum gauges, pressure gauges, and torque wrenches in accordance with LVS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, our laboratory operates in full compliance with the provisions of EASA Part 145, the European regulation governing the certification and operation of organizations performing maintenance on aircraft and aeronautical products. Compliance with EASA Part 145 ensures that all metrological and calibration activities are conducted to the highest standards essential for aviation safety.

Furthermore, our laboratory and personnel meet the requirements of EASA Part 147, which sets forth the standards for the training and certification of technical aviation personnel. This guarantees the professional qualification of our specialists and their continuous development.

Our experts deliver precise and reliable measurements, performing calibrations of vacuum gauges, pressure gauges, and torque wrenches in strict accordance with international and national standards. We guarantee prompt and high-quality service, meeting the most rigorous demands of the aviation industry.

In this way, we provide robust support for the maintenance and operation of aircraft within the framework of prevailing European aviation regulations.

We strive to be a trusted partner for organizations that value professionalism and the highest standards in metrology and calibration.

Our services

Calibration of dial pressure and vacuum gauges

We professionally calibrate analog pressure gauges and vacuum gauges according to the LVS EN 837-1:2002+AC standard, ensuring high accuracy and reliable measurements over a wide range — from −100 kPa to 100 MPa.

Our expanded measurement uncertainty, with a confidence level of approximately 95%, ranges from 0.03% to 0.06% depending on the range and instrument class. We provide full calibration reports, measurement uncertainty statements and certificates traceable to national standards.

Typical services include inspection, adjustment, calibration across multiple pressure ranges, and documentation suitable for aviation maintenance records.

Calibration of torque wrenches

We provide professional calibration of torque wrenches according to LVS EN ISO 6789-1:2017 and LVS EN ISO 6789-2:2017 standards, ensuring high accuracy across ranges from 0.01 Nm to 1000.00 Nm.

Our expanded measurement uncertainty with approximately 95% confidence ranges from 0.09% to 0.17% depending on the torque range and the instrument. Calibrations are performed on certified equipment traceable to national standards, and we provide calibration certificates and test reports upon completion.

We handle both manual and electronic torque tools, offering periodic calibration, verification and advice on maintenance intervals to keep your tooling within required tolerances.
