Travelling between Schengen countries
Usually there is no border control once in the Schengen countries. However, a valid travel document (and a valid visa or residence permit if required) is still necessary when travelling between Schengen countries. Passports and some national ID cards are valid for travelling (please refer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your country to check your ID card’s suitability for travelling to selected countries before your flight). From time to time border control is reinstated between some Schengen countries and some on the spot identity and travel document checks in Schengen area are performed by border control officers because of national security and other reasons.
