Codeshare flights

Codeshare is an agreement between two airlines in which one airline operates the flight and the other markets this flight and issues tickets for it as if they were operating the flight themselves. For codeshare flights, always check in with the airline operating the first flight of your journey.

Examples:

• If you book a flight from Riga to Catania via Rome with airBaltic, and the first flight (Riga–Rome) is operated by airBaltic, you’ll need to check in with airBaltic for the entire journey.
• On your return journey (Catania–Rome–Riga), if the first flight (Catania–Rome) is operated by ITA Airways, you should check in via ITA Airways.
• For direct flights, such as Riga–Istanbul operated by Turkish Airlines, check in directly with Turkish Airlines.

Interline flights

An interline agreement is a form of mutual acceptance of travel documentation and baggage for transportation. It allows one airline to issue tickets for flights operated by another airline. For interline flights, check in with the airline operating the first flight of your journey.

Examples:

• If you book a flight from Riga to New York via Amsterdam, and the first flight (Riga–Amsterdam) is operated by airBaltic, check in with airBaltic for the entire journey.
• On your return journey (New York–Amsterdam–Riga), if the first flight (New York–Amsterdam) is operated by Delta Air Lines, you’ll need to check in with Delta Air Lines for the entire journey.

Important notes

• Double-check your itinerary: Confirm whether your check-in covers your entire journey. Some airlines may have different check-in policies and allowances, and online check-in may open less than 24 hours before the flight. Please always verify with the operating airline.
• Boarding passes: Make sure you have boarding passes for all fights of your trip. If boarding passes for subsequent flights are not provided, you may need to check in online later or at the connecting airport – this is free of charge.
• Baggage policies: Baggage rules and fees may vary between partner airlines. Make sure to review the operating airline's baggage policies before your flight.
• Departure times: Always keep track of your departure time to ensure a smooth connection.
